She holds a M.A degree in French Language and Literature from the Faculty of History-Philology, University of Tirana, and a Ph.D in Journalism and Communication Sciences from the Faculty of Philology, University of Tirana. Previously, she was a journalist at the Albanian Telegraphic Agency, a media expert in the Media and Public Relations Office of the Democratic Party of Albania. She was also the Head of General Directorate for Information, Documentation and Academic Research of the Albanian Parliament. She was an external lecturer at University of Tirana, as well as a lecturer of communication and journalism at non-public Beder University and Albanian University, where she also held the position of the Head of Foreign Relations and Scientific Research.
The career of Mrs. Sakja is divided between active journalism, institutional communication, and public relations, lecturing and academic studies in journalism and communication sciences, as well as her engagement to the women empowerment in politics and decision-making.
She has participated in various political training programs: the Council of Europe for Youth Leadership program, the NDI program for Political Managers, as well as in several training programs for public and institutional communication in different countries.
She was the general coordinator of the first National Strategy for Gender Equality and Elimination of Domestic Violence. In 1995, along with a number of journalists from around the world selected by UNESCO, she participated in the drafting of the Communication Strategy of the Beijing Platform.
Dr. Arta Sakja has published as a single author and as a co-author, in specialized Albanian and international magazines, a series of studies and research articles on issues related to public and political communication.
She has translated academic texts from French into Albanian, in the field of political communication and is the author of two literary works in prose and poetry, in addition to other literary works published in various media outlets.
Mrs. Sakja is married and has a daughter.
