Discussions between Begaj and Cavoli focused on global security, the security situation in the Western Balkans region, Albania’s role as a contributor to peace, security, and Euro-Atlantic orientation in the region, as well as strengthening Albania’s military capabilities and its direct contributions to NATO.

“Today, the security situation has deteriorated, and the conflict in the Middle East, along with the brutal Russian aggression against Ukraine, have a tendency to spread to other regions. The situation in the Western Balkans continues to be fragile, reminding us of how much effort and dedication is required to not only defend democratic principles but also the peace and security of our countries,” stated President Begaj.

President Begaj assured General Cavoli that “Albania will always be there where NATO needs it, as it has proven through its presence in NATO missions and operations in Afghanistan, KFOR (Kosova), Latvia, Bulgaria, and Iraq.”
