President Begaj receives FAO General Director, Mr. Qu Dongyn
The President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Begaj met today with the General Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Mr. Qu Dongyn, to discuss existing cooperation in respective fields between Albania and FAO.
Appraising the long-standing cooperation and the fact that this year marks the 50th Anniversary of Albania’s membership in the organization, President Begaj noted that cooperation with FAO in the last two decades has entered into a completely new phase, due to the organization’s structural revision.
The various FAO supported projects in Albania, from agricultural land management to direct support to Albanian farmers, have had a great impact on the sustainable development of agriculture and food security, as well as upgraded our country’s standards to the Common Agricultural Policies (CAP) of the European Union, where Albania seeks future integration, President Begaj stated.
With respect to food security, President Begaj, also, appreciated the cooperation and FAO’s role especially after the global crisis, as a consequence of the Russian military aggression against Ukraine.
