President Begaj participates in the High-Level Meeting of the next Montenegro’s presidency of SEECP Summit
The President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj participated in the High-Level Meeting of the next Montenegro’s presidency, within the framework of the Summit of the Initiative of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP). The meeting was organized by the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, in Podgorica, at the end of the next SEECP Presidency.
President Begaj, who headed the Albanian delegation in the High-Level Meeting, held his speech for all those present, as well as gave a press statement.
During the press statement, the President congratulated Montenegro for the next SEECP Presidency considering essential and necessary, every initiative aimed at bringing closer and strengthening regional cooperation.
“The presence of the member countries of the European Union in this initiative, but also of the representatives of the European Union, shows their support for Albania, and for the other countries of the Western Balkans in the process of EU integration and in their Euro-Atlantic journey”, President Begaj said.
The Head of State further added that the challenges that the societies of the Western Balkans and the countries of South-Eastern Europe are dealing with are similar, so for their solution joint commitment is required, where the best practices and best experiences ought to be used.
Focusing on security challenges, President Begaj underlined that: “Obviously, the security situation in Europe has changed due to the war in Ukraine. The European Union’s focus on the Western Balkans has increased and strengthened, and we as countries of the Western Balkans and South-Eastern Europe must enhance our cooperation around the challenges that concern the most our peoples – security challenge, economic cooperation challenge, challenges related to energy, infrastructure, the green agenda or digital transformation.”
Considering the summit successful, President Begaj further added that the challenges of the future can be faced, only if we are united and unified.
At the end of his remarks, President Begaj congratulated North Macedonia for the upcoming Chairmanship-in-Office of the South-East European Cooperation Process.
