Mrs. Begaj in Vau i Dejës Supporting Women’s Health and Children with Disabilities
Mrs. Armanda Begaj visited today the Municipality of Vau i Dejës, where she appealed for breast cancer screening for women and girls.
Through a mobile mammography service, women and girls in Vau i Dejës and its six administrative units have access to free breast mammography checks. This initiative was realized through the care of the President of the Republic in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Institute of Public Health, following a request from the Municipality of Vau i Dejës to assist women and girls in remote areas.
Mrs. Begaj thanked the mammography specialist, nurses, local representatives, and activists who participated in this action.
In the first three days alone, 40 women and girls in Bushat underwent screening, while the mammography service will continue over the next 10 days in Vau i Dejës, Vig-Mnellë, Hajmel, and Temal.
During her stay in Vau i Dejës, Mrs. Begaj also attended the “Caritas Diocesan Sapa” Christmas fair, a charity event for children with different abilities. She conversed with their mothers, religious missionaries, and volunteers at the center, whom she thanked for their volunteerism and cooperation in this mission.
The charity initiative was embraced by the entire local community. Residents purchased unique artworks created by children with different abilities to assist them and to adorn their homes for the Christmas holidays.
