The President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj meets with the Greek Prime Minister: utterly committed to sustainable solutions on opened bilateral matters

The President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj met with the  Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic, H.E. Mr.  Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who is participating in the EU-Western Balkans Summit. Prime Minister Mitsotakis was accompanied by the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Niko Dendias.

President Begaj appreciated the very good bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between Albania and Greece, and expressed his gratitude for the support the Greek government and Greek people have given to the Albanian people, particularly in difficult times of natural disasters.

Referring to the very good neighbourly relations, the common values and challenges, the Head of State observed that the Greek minority in Albania and the Albanian community in Greece add value to our bilateral relations. They represent a strong, true and sincere bond of friendship, which we are willing to promote in the future.

President Begaj appreciated the existing spirit of understanding and cooperation between the two countries, both on a political and expert level, on all bilateral matters. Regarding bilateral negotiations, President Begaj assured the Prime Minister Mitsotakis that Albania remains committed to the principles of reciprocity, good neighbourly relations, the Constitutional Court Decision of 2010, and respective international conventions and laws, in line with the true spirit of the NATO alliance.

The Head of State expressed his thankfulness to the Greek Government on their new approach of cooperation towards the Government of Kosova, highlighting the fact that Kosova is an undeniable political reality and that recognition of Kosova’s Independence would strengthen peace and security in the Western Balkans.

President Begaj and Prime Minister Mitsotakis exchanged views on bilateral economic cooperation and underscored the need to further explore opportunities for investment in different sectors of the economy.
