President Begaj: Albanian-Turkish Relations Are of Strategic Importance
The President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, today received the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mr. Hakan Fidan.
The Head of State discussed bilateral relations and regional developments with the Turkish chief diplomat.
President Begaj noted that Albania and Türkiye are strategic partners and have a traditionally strong friendship.
“The Albanian-Turkish cooperation, in all fields, is a fruitful one,” he expressed.
The President conveyed his gratitude to Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan for Türkiye’s aid in Albania’s post-earthquake reconstruction process and for other investments in the country. Türkiye is among the largest economic partners in Albania, and Turkish investments have employed over 15,000 Albanians in our country.
Regarding developments in the Balkans, President Begaj stated: “Regional cooperation and good neighborly relations are essential pillars of Albanian policy, guaranteeing peace, security, democratic stability in the region, and are prerequisites for the region’s integration into the European Union.”
The President appreciated Türkiye’s role and contribution in the Western Balkans as a natural and historic partner for the region’s peace and security.
He also valued Türkiye’s support for Kosova’s integration into regional and global organizations and its strong lobbying for further recognition of the Republic of Kosova.
