New York – During the meetings that President Begaj is holding as part of his participation in the General Debate Week of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Head of State met with the President of Kenya, the President of Botswana, and the President of South Sudan, to whom he requested the recognition of the Republic of Kosovo.
Initially, President Begaj met with the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. William Samoei Ruto.
During the meeting, both presidents underlined that the exchange of visits at the political level would give an impetus to the development of cooperation between Albania and Kenya, especially in the framework of international organizations.
The Head of State further focused on developments in the Western Balkans region. President Begaj asked President Ruto to recognize the Republic of Kosovo, which he described as a stability factor in the Western Balkans.
President Begaj repeated the same request to the President of Botswana, H.E. Mokgweetsi Masisi.
Both presidents encouraged identifying opportunities for cooperation, especially in the economic sector and within international organizations. According to President Begaj, this meeting is an opportunity to give another dynamic to interstate relations.
The President of the Republic, H.E. Bajram Begaj, also met with the President of South Sudan, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit.
President Begaj focused mainly on the Republic of Kosovo, asking for its recognition by South Sudan. According to the Head of State, Kosovo is a factor of peace and stability in the Western Balkans region, so it should be supported to continue playing the same role.
Both presidents also discussed the need for cooperation within international organizations.
