On the occasion of the 110th Anniversary of Independence, President Begaj receives messages of congratulations from various world leaders

On the occasion of the Flag Day and the 110th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Albania, the President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj received congratulatory messages from many leaders and representatives from all around the world.

In a congratulatory telegram, the President of France, H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, states that the opening of accession negotiations with the European Union constitutes a crucial moment for Albania, which will bring developments in terms of economic, social, and environmental issues, while at the same time improve the functioning of democratic institutions, the state of law and good governance.

“France will always be by your side to guarantee support of the necessary European Integration reforms,” he emphasized in his message.

The President of the Republic of Italy, H.E. Mr. Sergio Mattarella also expressed his heartfelt congratulations to President Begaj. “During our last meeting, we had the opportunity to further strengthen the friendship and bonding relations of solidarity between Albania and Italy. This special connection finds expression in the ever-closer cooperation in the political, economic, social, and cultural levels. Our countries share the same values of democracy, peace, and solidarity. The opening of accession negotiations with the European Union constitutes an important step forward in the journey toward Albania’s full integration into the common European family. Italy will continue to support this process with determination, as well as bring to attention the progress achieved by Tirana in the framework of the membership negotiations,” noted President Mattarella.

The President of the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Mr. Zoran Milanović, states that: “This year is of great importance for our countries, as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. In the spirit of friendship, I am confident that Croatia and Albania will further work to advance cooperation, including the economic one. Strengthening stability and security in South-Eastern Europe is an essential component of our relations”.

The President of Greece, H.E. Ms. Katerina N. Sakellaropoulou, wrote that “In a period of multifaceted challenges, when peace and security are being put at risk at the European and regional level, Greece is steadily working towards strengthening our bilateral relations, based on the principle of good neighbourliness. At the same time, the dynamic presence of the Greek national minority in Albania, but also of the Albanian community in Greece, contribute daily to the meaningful rapprochement of our people. You have the firm support of my country for Albania’s EU membership process, which has entered a new path after the Intergovernmental Conference of last July and the start of accession negotiations”.

The congratulatory message of the President of the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr. Miloš Zeman,  affirmed that the friendship between Albania and the Czech Republic will continue to develop in the interest of strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The President of the Republic of Poland, H.E. Mr. Andrzej Duda, in his message to President Begaj, expresses his satisfaction over the very good relations that bring our two countries together. “I express my respects for the positive role and promotion of stability that your country offers to the Balkan region, and I assure you of Poland’s continued support for the Albanian aspirations with respect to European integration.”
