First Lady Armanda Begaj participated in the symbolic walk under the motto ‘The Pink Ribbon reminds me of…’

The First Lady, Armanda Begaj, in the framework of ‘Pink October’ – the fight against breast cancer awareness month – participated today in the activities organized by the Albanian Women’s Christian Association (YWCA of Albania) in Berat, under the motto ‘The Pink Ribbon reminds me of… ‘.

Part of these activitiesy was also the symbolic walk as a sign of solidarity and awareness among women and girls, regarding this disease and calls on them not to neglect periodic check-ups that help in timely diagnosis of the disease.

The symbolic walk started at the ‘Gorica’ Bridge in Berat and continued to the pedestrian area in the center of the city. The First Lady was joined by the Minister of Health, Mrs. Ogerta Manastirliu, the Ambassador of Israel, Mrs. Galit Peleg, the deputy head of UNICEF in Albania, Mrs. Edina Kozma, the Mayor of the Municipality of Berat, Mr. Ervin Demo, as well as other personalities of political and public life.

Next, the First Lady Armanda Begaj presented the symbolic trophy ‘Volunteer of Pink Ribbon to Shkodra poet Arjola Zadrima, for facing the disease with dignity and becoming a symbol of courage for other women and girls who face this difficult challenge.’

Along with the “Pink Ribbon Volunteer” award, we thank you, that with your love for life, you have decided to live it every day as a challenge, as a trophy and to inspire each of us to become not only with each other, but all together; mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, so that with courage, optimism and positive energy we can fight together for life’, Mrs. Begaj emphasized.

During the activity, informative and promotional materials were distributed on how to detect breast cancer early, such as leaflets, brochures, pink ribbons, t-shirts, etc, as a symbol of the fight against breast cancer.
