Valter Ibrahimi

Valter Ibrahimi was born in Tirana, on July 28th, 1963. He has graduated in 1988 with an engineering degree in the Faculty of Geology and Mining of the University of Tirana. Mr. Ibrahimi joined the Foreign Service of Albania in December 1992. Since then, he has served in various diplomatic positions at home and abroad.

Prior to his current position of Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj, he has also exercised this function in the years 2014-2019, first for the late President Bujar Nishani (2014-2017) and then for President Ilir Meta (2017-2019). Earlier, he served as Ambassador of Albania to Germany, from 2009 to 2014, and to Austria, from 2006 to 2009. During 2006-2008, he concurrently was accredited as Non-Resident Ambassador to Slovenia. While, during the years 2000-2002, he served as First Secretary to Czech Republic and in the years 1993-1997, as Second Secretary to Romania.

Before assuming the duty of the Ambassador to Austria, from 2003 to 2006, he was Director for European Integration and member of the Albanian negotiating team, to negotiate with European Commission, the Stabilisation and Association Agreement and also the Readmission Agreement with the European Union. From 2002 to 2003, he served as Chief of Section in the Department for Americas of the MFA responsible for the relations with the U.S., and from 1997 to 2000, he was desk officer responsible for the relation with U.S., and in certain periods also responsible for relations with Canada and Mexico, in the Department of Americas, Asia and Pacific of the MFA. Before assuming his post in Romania, in the years 1992-1993, he served as desk officer in the regional department of the MFA. As a coordinator for training programs at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, he has mentored three consecutive generations of young diplomats in the years 2019-2022. In all these years, he has conducted and attended a series of trainings at home and abroad.

Mr. Ibrahimi is married to Rilinda Ibrahimi, and they have two children: Kledio and Anisa. He speaks English, Rumanian, Italian, and basic German.

Valter Ibrahimi is awarded in 2017 by the President of the Republic of Albania with the Title “The Knight of the Order of Scanderbeg”, and in 2015 by the Prince and Grand Master and the Council of the Sovereign Order of Malta with the Title “Commendatore pro Merito Melitensi”.
