President Begaj Honored with High State Reception in Ulcinj

Today, Ulcinj honored President Bajram Begaj of Albania with a reception attended by local leaders, representatives of various political forces, activists, and Albanian citizens.

IMG 2732The Mayor of the Municipality, Genc Nimanbegu, presented to the President the political achievements of ethnic Albanians in Ulcinj and the projects that will further economically empower the area.

President Begaj appreciated everyone’s contributions and expressed admiration for their achievements due to dedication and positive pressure on Montenegrin authorities.

He mentioned that the opening of the General Consulate in Ulcinj acknowledges its status as a focal point for Albanians in Montenegro and responds to their needs.

IMG 2734The President emphasized the importance of advancing interregional and cross-border projects with Montenegro, viewing them as a step that will boost economic development.

According to the President, the construction of a bridge linking Velipoja with Ulcinj will significantly shorten the distance and facilitate the creation of an economic, touristic, and social axis between Shkodër, Lezhë, and Ulcinj: “This will enable us to exchange more with each other, communicate faster and more frequently, and bring economic development and prosperity to Albanians on both sides of the border.”

IMG 2738Parallel to the progress of cross-border projects, emphasizing the connection through the TAP gas pipeline, the construction of the Albania-Montenegro railway line, and the implementation of the Adriatic-Ionian Highway project, the President expressed that cooperation should be intensified to expedite these projects with Montenegro.

IMG 2739During his stay in Ulcinj, the President visited the newly opened Science and Innovation Center, which offers students science courses and state-of-the-art technological tools. At Ulcinj’s Library, President Begaj donated historical publications and children’s books, committing to continue supporting the preservation of the Albanian language in the ethnic lands of the Albanians and in all countries where they live to promote Albanian culture and identity. The President reaffirmed his and the Albanian institutions’ readiness to strongly support Albanians in Montenegro.

“I believe that the Albanian political factor in Montenegro must be united, must stand together for our identity,” was the message President Begaj conveyed from Ulcinj at the close of his official visit to Montenegro.
