The President of the Republic receives the delegation of the mayors of the Arbëresh municipalities
The President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj, received today a delegation composed of the mayors of the Arbëresh municipalities.
During the meeting, President Begaj spoke about the excellent model, that the historical Arbëresh diaspora has given in preserving the Albanian language, traditions and culture.
“You have managed to maintain very well the balance between integration and the preservation of identity for about six centuries”, President Begaj said.
President Begaj also focused on the role of the Arbëresh, in preserving and inheriting the Albanian language. “The love and dedication of the Arbëresh to inherit our language and culture through many generations has enabled the establishment of the chairs of Albanian language at the University of Rome, Naples, Cosenza and Palermo, which have become important centers of education.”
The Head of State assured all those present, that the Albanian state will continue to pay due attention to the Arbëresh, as an inherent part of the Albanian nation.
