The President Of The Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj Visited Today The Former Spaç Prison, On The Occasion Of The 50th Anniversary Of The Spaç Revolt

The Head of State, accompanied by the First Lady, Armanda Begaj, became part of the activities organized on this occasion, by the Diocese of Rrëshen and the Municipality of Mirdita, in cooperation with institutions and organizations engaged in the field of education and preservation of historical memory. In his remarks, President Begaj focused on respecting all those who sacrificed for freedom: “Pal Zefi, Skënder Daja, Dervish Bejko, Hajri Pashai, Dashnor Kazazi, Jorgji Pepa, and many, many others that I am not mentioning, are only some of those names who made their sacrifice to show that even after death, hope does not die!” - President Begaj said, further adding that: “They are part of a history that has not fully come to light yet, and which has a heavy impact on the future of our country. The heroes of Spaç and others like them, serve as a reminder to all of us that the fight for freedom is a permanent fight that requires our unwavering commitment and vigilance. A reminder that the power to shape our destinies lies within each of us.” President Begaj further said that: “Let's build bridges of understanding, compassion and empathy, knowing that through these spiritual connections we can create a brighter future for generations to come. But let's start by becoming aware of our past and by morally separating good from evil. What matters most is to build the future apologizing for the mistakes of the past, and breaking away entirely from the shadow of our nation's darkest period.” In the end of his remark, President Begaj said: “I want to express my deep respect and gratitude for all the martyrs of this revolt. On this memorable historic day, the survivors of Spaç Revolt are the best example, that despite all the suffering they have experienced, they convey tolerance, wisdom, hope and kindness. For this, and for all your struggles, our society owes you a great debt”, the President concluded.
