The President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj received in a meeting today, the Ambassador of the European Union in Albania, Ms. Christiane Hohmann, who officially submitted the progress report for Albania.
Appreciating the continuous support that the European Commission and the EU countries have given to Albania throughout the journey in the integration process, President Begaj confirmed that Albania’s membership in the European Union is and remains a strategic priority and an unchanging objective of Albania, widely supported by all institutional, political and social factors.
President Begaj expressed his appreciation for the report drawn up by the structures of the European Commission, for the known progress and the problems identified in the report. He underlined, that this report should serve as an impartial guide for the Assembly of Albania, the Government and all the institutions responsible for the continuation of reforms in the country.
On this occasion, President Begaj calls for accountability and transparency of all state institutions, for the involvement of all institutional, political and social actors, considering integration a primary national objective and interest.
The consensus and support of the integration agenda from the Majority and the Opposition are necessary for the progress of the reforms and the addressing of all issues raised in the report.
