Today, the President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, received Credential Letters from the new Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Albania, H.E. Ms. Mrs. Lina Skerstonaité, resident in Athens.
Appreciating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, President Begaj praised the spirit of cooperation and excellent political relations between the two countries.
Referring to multilateral cooperation, especially within NATO and the UN, President Begaj highlighted the fact that Albania and the Albanians are in full solidarity with the challenges and threats that Lithuania and the Baltic region are facing, particularly after the Russian military aggression in Ukraine.
The Head of State also appreciated the support that Lithuania has given to the EU enlargement process of the Western Balkans countries, expressing particular gratitude for their support regarding the opening of Albania’s accession negotiations.
Underlining the need to further promote economic and commercial cooperation, President Begaj appreciated the growing interest in the field of tourism, noting that there are numerous opportunities for further cooperation, not only in tourism, but various other areas.
