The event “Women – the soul of our ethnographic treasures” took place today at the Institution of the President of the Republic, under the auspices of the President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj and the First Lady, Armanda Begaj. The event focused on the contribution of Albanian women to Albanian cultural and ethnographic heritage. In this context, the photography exhibition supported by the Institution of the President was titled “Xhubleta, Albanian, universal, eternal”, by the well-known photographer Ergys Zhabjaku.
In his remarks, President Begaj said that “The tangible and intangible treasures of the Albanian national heritage are our root, they are the identity without which, we would not have this vitality that has protected us spiritually, even in dark periods of our history.” The Head of State emphasized that “In the path of development of civilization, primary always remains the legacy of our cultural values system through the education of our children, the new generation. Let’s enrich school curricula and encourage and increase interaction with children from the first grades, regarding our cultural heritage”, said President Begaj.
The First Lady, Armanda Begaj, also greeted those present at the event, emphasizing that “we must support all our ethnographic wealth and the essential role of the Albanian women in the creation and preservation of this wealth. It is our duty to preserve, study and pass on our ethnographic heritage as it deserves. Only in this way, we’ll be able to assure, that we have preserved our national identity and have turned Albanian values and traditions into universal values. Let’s do this for the Albanian women, let’s do this for the Albanian nation.”
At the end of the ceremony, the title of “Grand Master” was awarded to the well-known ethnographer Afërdita Onuzi.
The activity was also greeted by the “Pjetër Gaci” Cultural Center in Shkodra, with the dance “Vallja me shamija”, by the choreographer Aldo Nika.
