On the second day of his stay in Latvia, President of the Republic of Albania, His Excellency Bajram Begaj, visited the command of the Battle Group at Ādaži Camp. President Begaj, the Supreme Commander of the Albanian Armed Forces, was welcomed with a military parade attended by the Latvian Minister of Defense, Mr. Andris Sprūds, and the Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Leonīds Kalniņš.
During his visit, the President held a meeting with the leaders of Ādaži Camp, which hosts NATO’s Multinational Division North, led by Denmark, and NATO’s Battle Group under the enhanced forward presence led by Canada.
President Begaj commended the commitment of the Albanian Armed Forces contingent. He lauded their contribution, dedication, and professionalism, highlighting that “they are the pride of Albania and elevate its flag and name worldwide with their actions.”
In conversation with the troops, President Begaj expressed gratitude for their sacrifices, assuring them of his and the state’s support for their participation in this mission that honors Albania aligned with the Alliance against Russian aggression in Ukraine.
The President reaffirmed the commitment to increase Albania’s military contribution in line with the needs and demands of the Alliance.
During his visit to Ādaži Camp, President Begaj paid tribute to the two national heroes, Corporal Zarife Hasanaj and Major Klodian Tanushi, who fell in the line of duty in 2019, by laying wreaths at their memorial.
