President of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Bajram Begaj, is currently visiting Bologna, Italy, where he was welcomed by children and parents from the local Albanian school, an initiative by the “Korabi” Association in the region to preserve and pass down the Albanian language.
President Begaj also visited “Poti” company, a successful Albanian-owned enterprise that employs both Albanians and Italians.
While thanking them for their hospitality, President Begaj praised the Albanian community in the region for their entrepreneurial spirit, collaboration with Italian citizens, and efforts to maintain their cultural identity.
“Never forget the homeland of your ancestors!” advised the President to his compatriots, encouraging them: “Continue to work with dignity, proudly representing the flags of your native and host countries, just as they are displayed at the entrance of your enterprise.”
During this visit, President Begaj held special meetings with the Mayor of Bologna, Mr. Matteo Lepore, the newly elected President Michele de Pascale, and the incumbent President of the Emilia-Romagna region, Ms. Irene Priolo. President Begaj acknowledged the role of the Albanian community in Italy, including the Arbëresh and the new Diaspora, as well as Italian citizens and businesses in Albania, describing them as a new bridge of cooperation.
The President noted that excellent political relations have been followed by very good economic ties, emphasizing the closer connection between the citizens of the two nations: Albanians living and working in Italy, and Italians who have chosen to invest and live in Albania.
