Today, the President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Bajram Begaj, visited the Municipality of Konispol, the southernmost tip of Albania. During discussions with local authorities, the Head of State commended the efforts being made in agro-tourism in the area and emphasized the importance of further development in the face of emigration. “I observed cultivated lands, flourishing, with extraordinary landscapes and natural beauty that translate into a significant tourist attraction,” stated the President.
“Agriculture, agro-tourism, and livestock farming are fields that deserve increased attention, and we must encourage people to focus on them because, through these sectors, we will achieve the well-being of our citizens,” the Head of State emphasized, while also praising Konispol for its high patriotic, historical, and socio-cultural values.
President Begaj expressed gratitude and respect for the residents of Konispol, who continue to uphold traditions of growing citrus fruits, olives, and vineyards, as well as craftsmanship, enduring sacrifices with patience. He visited the workshop of woodcarver and stonemason Urim Arapi, who has been practicing this craft for 50 years. Another stop during President Begaj’s visit to Konispol was a citrus plantation and a pomegranate plantation. The Head of State congratulated the farmers who have established these plantations through hard work, advising the education of youth with a love for work.
“It is inspiring to see these prosperous plantations, the fruit of your sweat and labor. Pass on this love for the land to the young, so they do not leave! We must instill in them knowledge and a love for work,” emphasized the President.
During meetings with local residents, President Begaj pledged to be their voice, seeking solutions through cooperation for any issues they face.
The President assured his support for development and well-being, stressing the need to address problems in the relevant institutions.
“It is a Constitutional responsibility,” stated President Begaj, “that Konispol receives institutional attention just like any other municipality.”
Additionally, President Begaj visited the museum house of writer Bilal Xhaferi in the village of Ninat. Accompanied by the Mayor of Konispol, Mr. Ergest Dule, the Head of State laid a wreath at the Monumental Cemetery “Roses of Çamëria” in Kllogjer, a memorial dedicated to the victims of the Çam exodus during 1944-1945.
