President Begaj Expresses Condolences for the Passing of Bektashi Cleric, Baba Hekuran Nikollari

Today, President of the Republic, Sh. T. Z. Bajram Begaj, expressed his condolences for the passing of the Bektashi cleric, Baba Hekuran Nikollari, a Dervish at the Alipostivan Tekke in Përmet.

The President acknowledged Baba Hekurani’s contributions to serving believers, preserving national identity, and promoting religious harmony in Albania.

In his message, President Begaj noted that Baba Hekuran’s commitment had restored the ruins of the Alipostivan Tekke, turning it into a peaceful pilgrimage site.

President Begaj recognized that Baba Hekuran’s activities and assistance to the needy serve as an inspiration across generations for performing good deeds.

Full message from the President of the Republic, Sh. T. Z. Bajram Begaj:

“I learned with sorrow about the departure of Baba Hekuran Nikollari, the cleric who continued the work of Baba Ali, serving as an inspiration and guide for the wider Bektashi community of the Gjirokastër region and beyond.

Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Baba Hekuran Nikollari, Baba Ali’s Tekke in Alipostivan was resurrected from ruins. He restored this sacred site as a symbol of Albanian values, a monument of tranquility, love, and aid for the needy.

Baba Hekuran will always be remembered for his dedication to the faithful, as a protector of national identity, and for spreading religious harmony. Day by day, until his last breath, Baba Hekuran cared to give life to the land and the Bektashi faith.

I extend my deepest condolences to his family, the Bektashi believers, and join in prayers for the peaceful rest of Baba Hekuran Nikollari’s soul.”
