President Begaj Meets with Lord Stuart Peach, UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans
President of the Republic, H. E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, today welcomed Lord Stuart Peach, the UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, for a meeting.
The discussion centered on the current situation in the Western Balkans within the context of regional and global developments, emphasizing the importance of Euro-Atlantic integration in the face of third-party influences.
During the meeting, the significance of aligning the foreign and security policies of the regional countries with the common policies of the European Union was highlighted.
The need for investments in infrastructure was discussed as a critical factor for strengthening the relationships between Western Balkan countries, as well as advancing Corridor VIII, a project that connects countries between the Adriatic and the Black Sea.
The recent changes in European structures were seen as an opportunity for the Western Balkan states to benefit.
President Begaj expressed his appreciation for Lord Peach’s dedication and efforts as the Special Envoy in enhancing regional stability, strengthening democratic institutions, and addressing other common security challenges.
President Begaj also acknowledged the significant contribution of British troops in KFOR to maintaining security in Kosova.
