President Bajram Begaj of Albania today met with Afrim Gashi, the Speaker of the Parliament of North Macedonia, who is on an official visit to Tirana.
The discussion focused on strengthening cooperation and good neighborly relations between the two countries, as well as intensifying political, economic, social, and cultural cooperation.
The President appreciated the significance of the Albanian factor as a “state-forming, peace-loving, and determined factor for Euro-Atlantic integration” for the stability of North Macedonia, which also serves as a bridge connecting our two countries. Albanians play a unique role in sustainable development in the region.
The President considered the law on the language and the fair and adequate representation of Albanians in the administration as very important and of priority for the Albanians in North Macedonia.
“Albania is ready to intensify cooperation between our two countries to advance overall relations, as well as the Europeanizing context of developments throughout the region,” emphasized President Begaj, assuring a friendly and constructive atmosphere, a model of good neighborliness in the region.
The economic relations highlighted the importance of continuing the initiated projects, among the most significant, Corridor VIII, which, according to the President, is much more than just an infrastructure project. “Corridor VIII is a strategic project within the framework of cooperation between the two states,” stated President Begaj.
President Begaj noted that cooperation between Albania and North Macedonia in the field of European integration is an important process, regardless of the individual paths of the two countries, expressing confidence that they will meet again on this journey.
