The President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, received Mr. Matteo Mecacci, Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), and his team, who are on a several-day visit to Albania.
In the meeting, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj appreciated the work done by the OSCE and ODIHR over the years for Albania’s progress in the electoral field, as well as the assistance the organization has provided and continues to offer for electoral reforms in our country.
The President of the Republic highlighted the need for Albania to achieve concrete, tangible, reliable, and effective results in political dialogue for electoral reform and in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Delays in reform harm public trust in the process, hence all parties should show a constructive approach and will.
Elections should be a celebration of democracy, and political actors must do everything to ensure this.
