PRESIDENT BEGAJ RECEIVES CREDENTIAL LETTERS FROM THE NEW HEAD OF THE EUROPEAN UNION DELEGATION TO TIRANA

The President of the Republic of Albania, His Excellency Mr. Bajram Begaj, today received the new Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Tirana, His Excellency Mr. Silvio Gonzato. The President accepted the credentials and wished him success during his mandate in Tirana.

President Begaj assured Ambassador Gonzato that Albania will continue to be a reliable partner of the European Union. The President praised the progress of the negotiations and expressed hope that the Second Intergovernmental Conference with the European Union will be held within this year.

During the discussion, positive evaluations were expressed regarding the current results of the judicial reform.

President Begaj guaranteed full support from the institution he leads for cooperation in ensuring the successful continuation of Albania’s European integration process.

The meeting also appreciated Albania’s role in promoting regional cooperation and its presence on the international stage. In particular, Albania’s successful chairmanship of the United Nations Security Council and its upcoming participation in the United Nations Human Rights Council and the Executive Board of UNESCO were highly commended.
