Today, President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, received the credential letters from the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Hungary to Albania, H. E. Ms. Martina Kasnyik.
During the meeting, President Begaj praised the excellent political cooperation between the two countries, supported by traditional friendship and relationships spanning various areas of mutual interest.
The exchange of high-level visits has intensified this relationship, which enjoys a tradition dating back to the strategic alliance between our National Hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, and the Hungarian National Hero, János Hunyadi.
The President appreciated Hungary’s support for Albania’s European integration as a very active advocate and thanked Hungary for the valuable expertise it is providing Albania in the pre-accession process to the EU. “Albania and Hungary are significant partners in NATO. We are grateful to Hungary as the first country to ratify Albania’s NATO Accession Protocol,” stated President Begaj.
Furthermore, President Begaj highly valued the continuous increase in economic cooperation between the two countries, especially investments in the banking, communications, and transport sectors, and welcomed Hungarian encouragement and support for opening its market to Albanian products. The President highlighted the decision by WizzAir to increase the number of direct flights from Tirana to major regional and international destinations as very valuable for boosting tourism in Albania.
