PPresident of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, started the first day of the new year 2025 with an online meeting with members of the Albanian Armed Forces who are serving in peacekeeping missions and operations worldwide alongside NATO, the UN, and the European Union. President Begaj wished them and their families a prosperous New Year.
As the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Begaj expressed his gratitude to the troops for their contributions to international missions and operations, describing them as the finest ambassadors, proudly waving the Albanian flag alongside other NATO flags.
During the online conversation, President Begaj noted that during international visits over the past year, he received highly positive assessments of the effectiveness of Albanian personnel abroad from high-ranking NATO authorities and his counterparts.
In this vein, President Begaj committed to continuing Albania’s efforts to modernize its military and equip it with new capabilities, while emphasizing that support for service members and their families will remain a priority.
“Geopolitical dynamics require increased contributions and strengthened solidarity within NATO. Albania will continue its active participation in NATO missions and operations and is ready to increase its contributions if necessary,” stated the President of the Republic.
During the online conversation, representatives of Albanian missions and operations serving in Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Latvia, Iraq, the Aegean Sea, the Sinai, and South Sudan briefed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces on the situation in the countries where they serve, the condition of Albanian troops there, and their accomplishments over the past year. The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Arben Kingji, was also present at the meeting.
