President Begaj in Sofia with the President of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Zhelyazkov, and Bulgarian legislators
The President of the Republic of Albania, Mr. Bajram Begaj, during his visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of President Rumen Radev, also met with the President of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Zhelyazkov, and Bulgarian lawmakers.
President Begaj conveyed gratitude for the hospitality and the continuation of the Albania-Bulgaria friendship, which, as he stated, – although marking 110 years of diplomatic relations, dates back even earlier.
“The backbone of our cooperation is our collaboration within NATO and the Friendship Treaty between the two countries, based on the new and old Albanian minority residing in Bulgaria and the Bulgarian minority in Albania, who contribute to the relations between our two countries,” declared the President, who also expressed that his visit to Bulgaria would serve to strengthen this friendship.
President Begaj thanked the Bulgarian people for their assistance to Albania in dealing with the November 2019 earthquake emergency. He emphasized the need to expand cooperation in other areas of mutual interest, expressing encouragement for entrepreneurs and Business Chambers to find mutually interesting fields.
President Begaj thanked Bulgaria for its support in Albania’s integration process and stressed its vital importance for Albanians.
“The fact that we are left behind in the class, despite Albania’s excellent performance, does not make us pessimistic. We will continue to implement reforms. They are for our citizens,” emphasized President Begaj in his meeting with the President of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, Mr. Rosen Zhelyazkov, and the Bulgarian legislators.
