The President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, is on a working visit to Azerbaijan.
During this visit, President Begaj participated in the “Global Baku Forum,” an annual meeting that gathers leaders and personalities from around the world: Presidents, Prime Ministers, experts from various fields, and leaders of international organizations.
“Fixing the Fractured World” was the theme of this year’s “Global Baku Forum XI,” during which President Begaj delivered a special address, emphasizing the necessity of deepening cooperation between states and governments to successfully tackle current challenges.
“In a world where divisions seem to deepen by the day, the theme of our forum couldn’t be more urgent,” Begaj emphasized.
“We live in an era of unprecedented challenges. Climate change, political instability, economic inequalities, social injustices, and more, are global issues that cannot be addressed only at the regional level. They require cooperation,” declared the President of the Republic.
Regarding Albania’s role in the region, the Head of State reaffirmed the Euro-Atlantic orientation and the position of Albania and the Albanian people as a key factor for peace and stability in the region.
“From the perspective of Albania, a steadfast NATO ally and an EU candidate country, the consequences of this conflict and our role in the broader European security architecture are essential,” he stated.
“Albania, situated at the crossroads of significant geopolitical interests, is more than aware of the importance of stability and cooperation. Our journey toward EU membership is not only a testament to our commitment to democratic values, economic reforms, and the rule of law but also a clear indication of our dedication to contributing as effectively as possible to the security and prosperity of the European continent.”
In his concluding remarks, President Begaj highlighted: “Stabilizing a world troubled by divisions is not only about addressing global challenges but about recognizing our common humanity, our shared values, and our shared future. Together, we must build bridges of cooperation, foster sustainable development, and promote peace and security. Our joint journey towards healing begins with the steps we take today.”
During his stay in Baku, the President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, held bilateral meetings, notably with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
President Begaj had a one-on-one meeting with his counterpart Ilham Aliyev, with whom he discussed the excellent political relations between the two countries, prospects, and the strengthening of economic cooperation with a focus on energy and tourism.
The positive developments between the two countries (visa abolition for citizens of both countries and the establishment of the Joint Albania-Azerbaijan Committee on economy, technology, and industry) were appreciated during the meeting with President Aliyev.
The potential of Albania as a regional hub for gas distribution was also highlighted.
President Begaj invited both state and private enterprises to invest in Albania.
