President Begaj:
“Today we celebrate our most precious treasure, the most beautiful symbol of national unity and Albanian resilience: the alphabet of our blessed language.
The National Day of the Alphabet is not merely a celebration of the Albanian letters, but a remembrance of centuries of our language’s resilience, an appreciation of its current values and beauty, and a commitment to cherish and dedicate ourselves to it in the future. The language of the eagles will survive!
On the 116th anniversary of the Congress of Monastir, which unified the Albanian alphabet, President Bajram Begaj met with the winners of the National Albanian Language Competition from ‘Rilindja’ school in Kavaja: Ajra Bexhdili, Klevis Musa, Kejsi Teliti, Najla Vrapi, and Kejsi Shehi, accompanied by the school director, Ms. Hamide Kariqi, the Language-Literature teacher, Ms. Matilda Bardhi, and the Mayor, Fisnik Qosja. They shared their competition experiences and its values during the Year of the Albanian Language in a delightful discussion.
“Today we celebrate our most precious treasure, the most beautiful symbol of national unity and Albanian resilience: the alphabet of our blessed language. The National Day of the Alphabet is not just a celebration of the Albanian letters but a commemoration of centuries of our language’s resilience, an acknowledgment of its current values and beauty, and a pledge to value and dedicate ourselves to it in the future,” President Begaj emphasized after congratulating the students for their effort and dignified representation, which makes us believe our future will be much better.
The Head of State expressed his belief that this national competition should become an annual tradition to continue preserving and enriching our language: “When building a house, it’s not the roof that is made beautiful, but the strong foundations.
These foundations laid in ‘Rilindja’ school show that our language, the root, the language of the eagles, will continue to survive. What you have shown during this time is that the correct and proper use of the Albanian language, its defense, and promotion, and certainly its enrichment, is a value, a value of our nation.”
The students expressed that they managed to bring the trophy to Kavaja with the help of their teachers and strong teamwork: “Each of us has a different talent, like pieces of a puzzle that individually make no sense, but when we came together, we managed to win.”
President Begaj presented each student with an Albanian Language Dictionary as a symbol of their commitment to the Albanian language by winning the competition among 900 schools in the country.
