Today, on National Youth Day, President of the Republic, Mr. Bajram Begaj, commemorated the anti-communist student movement of December 1990, which marked the beginning of pluralism in Albania. In a special message, President Begaj honors all the young people who 34 years ago rose against the dictatorial regime and inspired the popular movement that led to the downfall of communism.
President Begaj appreciates the courage of that generation of students with a Western vision, who sought freedom and democracy, stating, “Today we celebrate the youthful spirit of the generations that will always propel Albania forward.”
“Today,” writes the President of the Republic, “we are all inspired by the civic and political act of December ‘90 to make the expressed aspiration a reality in the epic call: ‘We want Albania to be like the rest of Europe!’”
