President Begaj Meets with QUINT Ambassadors to Advance Domestic Reforms and Albania’s Contribution to Regional and Global Developments

President of the Republic, Mr. Bajram Begaj, today welcomed representatives from the QUINT countries in the OSCE: German Ambassador Susanne Schütz, British Ambassador Neil Holland, French Ambassador Fatène Benhabylès-Foeth, Italian Ambassador Stefano Baldi, and American Deputy Ambassador Katherine Brucker.

The President, after extending a warm welcome, noted that such meetings are crucial for ensuring better coordination concerning OSCE commitments in our country and the progress of reforms in the field of justice, rule of law, and the fight against corruption and organized crime.

Appreciating the role and commitment of the OSCE in our country to date, the President highlighted that this contribution, based on the organization’s unique expertise, aligns with Albania’s priorities, where EU integration remains a strategic goal.

President Begaj informed the QUINT ambassadors about the progress of reforms in our country, emphasizing electoral and justice reforms, reaffirming support for the justice reform, and the institutions involved in it.

On this occasion, the President reiterated his message to political parties in parliament to elevate lawmakers to the required level and timely implement an electoral reform that ensures an indisputable process, including voting rights for emigrants. Additionally, President Begaj underscored the importance of returning to normal parliamentary operations for timely fulfilling commitments in the area of reforms and EU integration.

The meeting also highlighted Albania’s contributions to global and regional developments, mentioning Albania’s role as the OSCE Chairpersonship in 2020, its non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, and now as a member of the UN Human Rights Council.

Discussions also covered regional developments, where interlocutors appreciated Albania’s constructive, moderate role clearly oriented towards a European future. This policy aids not only Albania but remains a significant factor in strengthening peace, security, and sustainable development in the Western Balkans region.
