President Begaj: “B40”, a Serious Commitment to Regional Cooperation and Sustainable Development
The President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, participated in the “B40 Balkan Cities Network” summit in Tirana.
This event aims to highlight the importance of localizing the sustainable development agenda.
In his welcoming speech, President Begaj appreciated: “The Network of Balkan Cities is a serious commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable development. It adds significant value to our relationships, as it creates opportunities for cooperation at the local level. Your network has the potential to be a successful example for a sustainable and inclusive future.”
Addressing the local leaders, President Begaj also emphasized: “You, esteemed mayors, along with your teams, not only administer the most populated centers of the region but also the main economic and cultural engines of our countries. Many of the participating cities are significant global actors, both in the economy and other important areas. Your work is of special importance.”
Mayors and their accompanying delegations discussed the future of local governance, joint solutions to local problems, and potential areas of collaboration.
In concluding his speech, the President of the Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, thanked the participants, stating: “Cities in the 21st century should be more than just economic and industrial centers. They should first and foremost be spaces where individual well-being is a priority, where harmony with the environment is no longer an option, but a necessity.”
