The President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj received yesterday in a meeting the British Ambassador, H.E.Mr. Alastair King-Smith, with whom he talked about the progress of bilateral cooperation, as well as about various regional and international developments.
President Begaj appreciated the very good level of political cooperation, but also the contribution made by the government of the United Kingdom to the consolidation of democracy and the rule of law in Albania. In particular, President Begaj appreciated the cooperation in the field of justice and order, as well as greeted the commitment of the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Mrs. Liz Truss, to review the rules of legal immigration, considering it as an added contribution to the fight against human trafficking and organized crime.
President Begaj, also expressed his gratitude for the immediate response of the British authorities in condemning the cyber attacks against Albanian governmental electronic systems and services by actors connected to Iranian state agencies, as well as for the British Government’s support for its NATO ally, in strengthening protective capacities of the cyber infrastructure.
From his part, Ambassador King-Smith recognized President Begaj with the contribution of the British security agencies in the fight against organized crime and terrorism, as well as with the contribution of the special envoy of the British Government, for peace and stability in the Western Balkans region.
