President Begaj receives International Republican Institute’s Europe Regional Director, Paul McCarthy
The President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj, received today IRI’s Europe Regional Director Paul McCarthy, who was also accompanied by the Resident Program Director – Albania, Mr. J. John Fluharty.
President Begaj expressed his appreciation for IRI’s activity in support of democracy in Albania.
During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the problems and achievements of democracy in Albania, also in the light of the analysis of the results obtained from the IRI questionnaire, carried out before the local elections of 2023 in our country.
The Head of State spoke with Mr. McCarthy also on the participation of young people and women in the political process in Albania, about democracy in the Western Balkan region, as well as other topics of common interest.
At the end of the meeting, the President got acquainted with the future plans of IRI’s activity in Albania.
