The President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj, received today the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Gordan Grlić Radman, who is in Tirana on an official visit.
Referring to the very good traditionally friendly relations, as well as the strategic partnership between the two countries, President Begaj hailed Croatia’s entry into the Schengen area and the Eurozone. “Croatia remains a very good example for Albania and for all the countries of the region” – President Begaj underlined.
In particular, President Begaj focused on the cooperation within the European integration process of Albania and expressed his gratitude for the support that Croatia has always given to Albania in this regard.
Also, President Begaj assessed that the Croatian expertise and knowledge on this matter are very valuable for the Albanian negotiating team, especially at this stage of the accession negotiations to the European Union.
The Head of State highly appreciated the very close collaboration concerning regional cooperation, underlining that the role of Croatia for security, stability and development of the region is very important.
In this context, President Begaj appreciated the close cooperation as allies in NATO, as well as the support that Croatia has given to Kosovo for its membership in regional and international organizations, but also for visa liberalization and dialogue with Serbia.
Both interlocutors further focused on the negative effects that the Russian military aggression in Ukraine produced for the Western Balkan region, as well as on the need for closer coordination and cooperation in this regard, to minimize the intervention of malicious third actors.
Also, both interlocutors appreciated the mutual support of the candidacies for the United Nations Security Council.
