President Begaj Received In A Meeting The Representatives Of The Community Of Sant’ Egidio, Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia And Dr. Mario Giro

‘Interreligious harmony and coexistence are values of the Albanian nation that make us always feel proud’, said the President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj, in today's meeting with Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia, one of the church leaders of the Community of Sant’Egidio, as well as a member of this community, the former Foreign Minister of Italy, Dr. Mario Giro. President Begaj praised Archbishop Paglia's role in promoting peace and dialogue since the first days of democratic changes in Albania, through the special attention he paid throughout these three decades to developments in Albania, Kosovo and the entire Balkan region. Referring to the motto of the Community of Sant’Egidio - ‘building bridges through friendship’, President Begaj particularly appreciated the contribution of this community in Albania, supporting people and groups in need, providing social services for the elderly and lonely people, where care for people with mental illness is of great value.
