President Begaj meets with the President of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev and the Foreign Minister of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan

As part of the participation in the High-Level Meeting of the South-East European Cooperation Process, the President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj, held bilateral meetings with the President of Bulgaria, H.E.Mr. Rumen Radev, and the Foreign Minister of Türkiye, Mr. Hakan Fidan.

In the meeting with the President of Bulgaria Radev, President Begaj appreciated the very good relations between Albania and Bulgaria, as well as underlined the need for better cooperation and coordination to improve the regional interconnection infrastructure, putting a special emphasis on Corridor 8.

IMG 20230628 WA0002Regarding the latter, President Begaj appreciated the role of Bulgaria as an EU member country in support of the project.

The two interlocutors also exchanged opinions on the latest developments in the Western Balkan region, on the need to support the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as on the impact and consequences of Russian aggression in Ukraine.

President Begaj also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, Mr. Hakan Fidan, at the latter’s request.

IMG 20230628 WA0001After congratulating him on becoming Foreign Minister of a friendly country, President Begaj appreciated the very good relations of cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as expressed his gratitude for the great support that Türkiye has given to Albania and the Albanians, especially in overcoming the consequences of the devastating earthquake in November 2019, as well as during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In November of this year, Türkiye is expected to take over the command of KFOR in Kosovo, so the two interlocutors also focused on the latest developments in the Western Balkans region. President Begaj appreciated the personal role of President Erdogan in maintaining peace and security in this region. Opinions were exchanged about the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and the need to continue this dialogue, in the service not only of both countries, but of the entire region.
