President Begaj meets with the Archbishop of Florence, Cardinal Giuseppe Betori, as well as with Cardinal Ernest Simoni
The President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj received today the Archbishop of Florence, Cardinal Giuseppe Betori, who was also accompanied by the Albanian Cardinal Ernest Simoni.
During the meeting, President Begaj appreciated the excellent relations between Albania and the Holy See, which have been best reflected through the visit of Pope Francis to Albania in 2014, the blessing of 38 Albanian martyrs, the canonization of Mother Teresa, as well as the appointment of Ernest Simoni as Cardinal.
The meeting also assessed the role of the Albanian community in Italy, which has contributed to the further strengthening of relations between Albania and the Holy See.
