The President of the Republic, H.E. Mr. Bajram Begaj, today opened the doors of the institution to celebrate the 104th anniversary of the proclamation of Tirana as the Capital.
This event was attended by honored guests including personalities from medicine, justice, culture, education, media, and representatives of Tirana’s indigenous families.
The President appreciated their contribution to Tirana as the capital of Albania, as well as the generosity and hospitality they have shown to newcomers over the years from other Albanian territories.
“A part of our people’s history is engraved in Tirana. The capital, transformed over the years from a junction connecting the main roads of our regions into the main political, economic, social, and cultural center of the Albanians, is a success story,” President Begaj said in his welcoming speech.
“The city’s history is undoubtedly the marvelous story of the residents of Tirana. Each generation has left its mark in history, architecture, urban planning, and above all, in its patriotic, nationalistic, and pro-Western spirit. Tirana and its citizens have been ahead of progress, turning it into the capital for all Albanians, wherever they may be,” the President declared in his speech.
Throughout this event, citizens had the opportunity to recall the past and touch the present of Tirana, showcased through authentic documents, photographs, paintings, and publications by authors from Tirana.
The celebration of the 104th anniversary of Tirana as the Capital featured well-known artists from Tirana who, through their performances, brought the capital to life in sounds and verses.
Artisans from Tirana, promoting the tradition of their ancestors, exhibited works preserved for centuries.
Tirana’s past and present were also displayed at the Presidency through paintings by artists belonging to different generations since the capital’s founding.
