United States President, H.E. Joseph R. Biden Jr. congratulates the President of the Republic, H.E. Ilir Meta about the Independence Day of Albania

On the occasion of the Independence Day of Albania, the President of the Republic, H.E. Ilir Meta received a warm congratulatory message from the President of the United States, H.E. Joseph R. Biden Jr., in which is written:

“Dear Mr. President,

On behalf of the American people, I congratulate Albania on your Independence. This year we mark thirty years of our re-established diplomatic ties and celebrate a friendship based on the bonds of family and history, as well as on our shared democratic values and commitment to human rights.

It is remarkable what Albanians have achieved since 1991. Today, Albania is a close friend of the United States, an important NATO Ally, and an incoming UN Security Council member. And Albania is demonstrating to the world its great hospitality by hosting and providing safe harbor to Afghans at risk.

The United States looks forward to continuing to support Albania as you strengthen your democratic institutions, complete important reforms of your justice sector, tackle corruption to ensure a transparent and equitable business climate for Albanian and foreign investors, and pursue your European future. Our growing bilateral trade and investment relationship, especially in the important energy sector, is critical to Albania’s resilience and our deepening partnership.

On behalf of all Americans, I wish the Albanian people a peaceful Independence Day. The United States is proud to call Albania a friend, partner, and Ally!”
