12 May 2021 President Meta wishes Happy Eid al-Fitr to the Albanian Muslim believers
Tonight I join the celebration of every Albanian Muslim believer for the welcoming of Eid al-Fitr and cordial wishes for accepted fasting, for better health, prosperity, prosperity and peace in your families.
With the call of the morning prayers, tomorrow from the mosques of our cities and villages, the believers will mark the end of Ramadan, a month of spiritual reflection full of sacrifices, but also with other difficult social challenges that we went through together.
Many Albanians during Ramadan shared their noble help for people in need, being close to the sick, the poor and the disabled, with the good intention of building a common, fairer and more solidary community life.
Based on these principles and high divine, moral, social and national values, it is time to commit every day to build a more humane Albania, guided by faith in God, with civic and institutional responsibility, only towards the common good that rejects arrogance, corruption, vices and violence, in whatever form they may appear.
The celebrations of Eid al-Fitr proudly remind us today of the sacrifices of our patriots of different religious faiths to build an independent and sovereign state, as well as to consolidate one of the most representative values of the Albanian nation, the wonderful inter-religious harmony.
This precious heritage would not have been possible without the extraordinary contribution of the Muslim clergy, who above all established the Homeland as the most sacred thing.
Together, we too must commit ourselves to defending democracy, without which freedom of religion would not be possible today, and to strengthening Albania as a whole, to turning it into our common family, where everyone has the opportunity to build their secure European future and where no one feels excluded, isolated, undervalued and stolen.
“Facilitate and do not complicate, congratulate for good and do not incite hatred.” Quran.
HAPPY EID Al- FITR!
