14 June 2020 President Meta on the International Blood Donor Day: Blood donation for children affected by thalassemia is a noble and vital mission, especially in this period of COVID-19 pandemic
On the occasion of the International Blood Donor Day, in the framework of the initiative undertaken by Him and in cooperation with the “Alliance for Blood Donation”, the President of the Republic, H.E. Ilir Meta participated in the next blood donation session for thalassemia children, held at the headquarters of the Albanian Evangelical Brotherhood.
In the meeting held at the Albanian Christian Center, which was attended by the Archbishop of the Metropolitan of Tirana-Durres, Monsignor George Frendo, President Meta expressed gratitude to Chief Pastor Ylli Doçi and members of the Evangelical Brotherhood and young volunteers for their willingness to join this noble and humane cause.
The Head of State thanked the Evangelical Brotherhood and the blood donors, emphasizing that donating blood for thalassemia children, especially in this difficult period of COVID-19 pandemic, is a highly humane gesture and extremely vital mission.
