The President of the Republic, H.E.Mr. Bajram Begaj received in a meeting today, the Ambassador of Canada, H.E.Ms. Elissa Golberg, resident in Rome.
The Head of State appreciated the very good progress of the 35-year-old friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries, which were re-dimensioned and took a special boost after the democratic changes in Albania.
In particular, President Begaj appreciated the close cooperation on security issues within NATO, the UN and other international organizations, underlining Albania’s contribution to the United Nations Security Council for the benefit of peace, security and world order.
The President of the Republic also appreciated the support and assistance that the Canadian authorities, central and local, have given and are giving to the Albanian community to fully integrate into the socio-economic and political life of Canada.
As an added value, not only for Albanians living and working in Canada, but also for Canadian citizens living and working in Albania, President Begaj considered the recent entry into force of the bilateral Agreement for mutual recognition of social insurance.
