President Begaj Welcomes President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye
The President of the Republic of Albania, His Excellency Bajram Begaj, today welcomed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye, who is on a state visit to Albania.
Initially, Presidents Begaj and Erdogan held a private meeting followed by a session with their respective delegations.
The discussion focused on the excellent relations between the two countries and the potential for deepening and strengthening these ties.
“A friend of Albania and the Albanian people,” President Begaj referred to President Erdogan.
“I am very committed to strengthening our fraternal cooperation,” stated the President of Albania, emphasizing that such collaboration remains a priority, a cooperation demonstrated by the solidarity shown by our peoples during earthquake crises.
“This cooperation,” continued President Begaj, “will see further enhancement with this visit and the signing of relevant agreements.
I confirm that Albania is strongly committed to advancing relations in every field of bilateral cooperation.
Holding the Second Meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council provides a good opportunity to discuss our bilateral cooperation in areas such as security, defense, renewable energy, economy, trade, infrastructure, tourism, the environment, and other vital issues in more depth and detail,” stated the head of state.
The meeting underscored the importance of Albania-Türkiye cooperation, mutual contributions in international organizations where both countries are members, and the proactive role in supporting Albania’s perspective in the EU by Germany, with which Albania maintains excellent political and economic relations.
The state leader thanked President Erdogan for Türkiye’s assistance before and during Albania’s NATO integration process and for the excellent relationships our forces have in joint missions and operations.
Additionally, President Begaj thanked President Erdogan for Türkiye’s help in education, training, and modernization of our Armed Forces.
President Begaj stated that Albania remains committed to exchanging views and opinions on security issues that directly impact our region and the Middle East.
In his concluding remarks, President Begaj noted, “Albania has consistently and unreservedly supported the two-state solution, advocating for two independent states living in peace and good neighborliness,” highlighting his gratitude towards President Erdogan for his support for Albanians and particularly for Kosova.
During the conversation, they also recognized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties through the advancement of economic cooperation projects.
“Türkiye is one of Albania’s largest trading partners. Turkish investments make Türkiye the fourth largest trade partner of Albania. We welcome Turkish companies to invest in Albania in various sectors, such as infrastructure, tourism, energy, technology, agriculture, and the manufacturing and processing industries,” emphasized President Begaj during his meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Türkiye.
