Prof. Dr. Maksim Cikuli - Health, Education and Scientific Research Adviser

Prof. Dr. Cikuli was born in Korça on January 7th, 1952. He graduated from the Medicine Faculty of Tirana University in 1974. During 1981-84 he attended graduate studies at the Paris V University in France on the Discipline of Medical Genetics. In 1986 he earned the Master on Medical Sciences; in 1989 becomes a Docent and in 194 he earned the title of Professor. During 1974-79 he worked as General Doctor at the Cooper Mine of Gjegjan. Then he worked as a Pedagogue of Internal Illnesses at the Medicine Faculty of Tirana University. From 1984 he is a Pedagogue of the Genetics subject at the Medicine Faculty of Tirana University. During 1992-94 he has served as Head of Service of the Specialist Pediatrics at the Hospital Centre of Tirana University. In 1993 he was appointed Director of the Tirana University Hospital Centre. From 2001 up to the present Prof. Dr. Cikuli is the Head of Pediatrics Department. During 1994-97 he has served as the Minister of Health and Environment Protection. From 2005 until 2007 he served again as Minister of Health. He was elected to the Assembly of Albania during two legislatures in the period 1996-2001. He is the author a few text books for students and graduate students and of tens of scientific medical articles in the domestic and foreign publications. Prof. Dr. Cikuli has mastered three foreign languages.
