Prof. As. Dr. Aleksandër Flloko - Secretary General

Prof. As. Dr. Flloko was born in Peja in 1946. After the conclusion of the studies of Biology in the Tirana University, he was appointed at the Fishing Sector of Vlora, where he worked until 1980. Alongside his work as a biologist in fishing, he has been a pedagogue during the period of 1974-79 in Vlora University. During 1981-1991 he worked in the Fishing Research Institute of Durrës. From 1986 to 1992 he has been also a Pedagogue in the Faculty of Natural Science and in the Tirana Agriculture University. In May 1991 he was appointed Director General of Fishing in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food where he served until 1998. During the nineties and later on he has cooperated as coordinator and consultant in various projects and studies of FAO on Fishing and Aquaculture in the Mediterranean. In 1998 he received the grade of “Doctor of Sciences” in the field of Applied Biology to carry out for the very first time the artificial reproduction of marine fishes in Albania. Due to his contribution in the scientific research field and in teaching, he earned the title of Associated Professor in 2005. From 1998 until 2000 he headed the Fish Conservation Factory in Durrës. From June 2000 to June 204 he has worked as National Coordinator in a World Bank pilot project. From July 2004 to January 2007 he has served as Department Chief in the Veterinary Research Institute. Throughout all this period, Prof. Flloko has acted as collaborator in a few projects of FAO, EU and WB and also a member of a few national and international boards. From 1999 until 2006 he has acted as the Director of the Board of Directors in the Agro-business Council of Experts. From 2003 until 2007 he returns as a Pedagogue to the Tirana Agricultural University, by introducing for the very time in this University the subjects of Ichthyology and Fishing Management. In January 2007 Prof. Flloko was appointed as First Secretary to the Mission of Albania at the European Union in Brussels in the field of Agriculture, Food and Fishing Resources where he served until August 2007. Prof. Flloko is the author of more than forty studies and has published a great number of articles in domestic and foreign scientific magazines and has taken part in numerous international events, congresses, conferences, symposiums, etc. He is also co-author of the “Ichthyo-fauna of Albania” Monograph and author of a few university texts such as Ichthyology, Fishing Management, Aquaculture, etc. Prof. Flloko is a good connoisseur of a few foreign languages.
