27/07/18 The President in the Municipality of Divjaka for the “Blood Donation Alliance”
President Meta in the Divjaka Municipality: Young people can play a very important role for raising awareness of all citizens to become regular blood donors.
The President of the Republic, Mr. Ilir Meta visited today the Municipality of Divjaka in the framework of the initiative undertaken by him and the “Blood Donation Alliance”. Together with the mayor of Frederick Kokonesh, President Meta stopped at the Cultural Center of the Divjaka Municipality, where blood was donated by many citizens, administration employees and other local institutions depending on this municipality.
Thanks to the mayor and blood donors for their noble and humanist work, and who responded immediately to the call of the “Blood Donation Alliance”, President Meta stressed that this session “aims to help primarily chronically, to those who perform surgical interventions or who experience accidents. ” Addressing mainly residents of the Divjaka area and local leaders, President Meta noted: “Unfortunately, your area has the highest percentage of thalassemia in our country: 7.3%. This means that the need for blood is persistent. This puts us in front of responsibility, solidarity and humanity to help these patients by donating blood regularly and not sporadically. This is also one of the main objectives of the ‘Blood Donation Alliance’: 100% free voluntary blood donation, especially increasing the number of regular donors. ” The appeal of the President of the Republic on this occasion was: “I would like to call on all the healthy citizens of Divjaka, Lushnja, Fier, Berat, areas where thalassemia is higher, to become regular blood donors to help all their fellow citizens.
I urge you to consult doctors and do the appropriate tests to see if they are remodeling thalassemia or not. It is essential to have a strong disease prevention policy ranging from informing the youth to consultations and the necessary medical analysis. ” “It is very important to provide information to children and young people, such as school banks, blood, thalassemia, its prevention, the need for blood donation, etc., in order to reduce the number of patients with thalassemia. We need to work all together and undertake ongoing awareness raising campaigns on this vital issue. I am convinced that young people will play a very important role for this extremely humane cause, “said the President of the Republic.
